Hotel Tropical is the second property by hotelier Antonio da Silva, who opened his first hotel in Rio de Janeiro 15 years ago and named it Love Hotel + Universe – which tells you all you need to know about its maverick owner. As well as housing one of the top five most expensive suites in the world, the Hotel Tropical has interiors overseen by Baz Luhrmann, a spa where the treatments were devised by Alan Faena’s personal shaman, and celebrity chef Francis Mallman ruling the kitchen. And it is also home to a woolly mammoth created by Damien Hirst.
